This was one of the ships that requested Sonarmen when i graduated from FSS Key West FL in April 55, One of the others got her.
Good history of W H Brownson.
The new website layout looks great. Glad to see the guest book on line.
My name is Scott Rowland and although I am not a sailor my Dad Dick Rowland was a 20 Navy Veteran. He had the pleasure of serving on a number of ships during his career but he always mentioned the Brownson first, when asked what ship he served on. He was very proud to have served on her and I can see why. I have been contacted by many great people during the past few years that served aboard the ship at the same time and they are a great group.
Dad passed away in 1992 but you can be sure that his spirit lives on in all of you. He was very proud to be a member of the US Navy and a crew mwmber on board the USS Brownson.
If anyone has any recollections or photos of Dick I would love to hear or see them. I can be reached at scottr_6@msn.com
Thank you
Scott
Salute,
I served on The Brownson, 1969-70.
I reported aboard, during the 69 Med cruise and served with First Division, worked with the cooks for 2-3 months, but had my
nose into every Division.had friends in every division ! Such is life on a DD.
I'm retired as A DAV, from The US Army, but would rather be on a destroyer, cruising !!
Maga dey here guys okkkkkkkkkkkk.

Martin, My name is Dan Beightol, and I was aboard the Brownson almost exactly the same dates you were. I remember your name, but did not know you well. I was an ET and was part of OI Division. I live in Wisconsin and am getting ready to retire from 35 years from a company that hired me as an ET from my Navy experience. I remember the Med Cruise well and still have my Cruise book. I am also a professional printer and will be glad to make a copy of my cruise book and send it to you. Just email me your address.
Hope you are well.
Dan
Served aboard Brownson from April, 1968, to December, 1971. As MM2, worked in Main Control for 2.5 years before going to Air Conditioning/Refrigeration School (Norfolk, VA), returning to Brownson as member of A Gang.
Two requests:
Am looking to contact Richard A. Foley, BT3, on board same years as above.
Also: Am looking to replace lost "Mediterranean Cruise Book, 1969."

Did the "Brownson Four" ever get to play in Liverpool's Cavern Club?
Thanks so much for your help!!! I am very grateful to you for all of your work in upgrading and maintaining the Brownson Web Site!!!!!
Happy New Year !!!!
Just an "FYI" from our home here on the east side of Jamestown, I am looking South East at the Navy Piers where our "Bouncing B" was homeported at the Navy Base in Newport during those years when we were aboard her in the 60's...
I like the website. Looking forward to the reunion in Reno.
Bob , the new upgrades to the older website looks very good. Keep up the good work.
Best Regards , RAR
