The Association
The USS Brownson Association is a fraternal, strictly non-profit organization made up of more than 750 of the 5,000 men who served on board this great ship during her 31 years of distinguished service to her country. We are dedicated to perpetuate and preserve the memory and heritage of the USS Brownson (DD-868). The Association has, as it’s sole purpose and intent, the promoting of camaraderie among it’s members; the scheduling of reunions; and communicating topics of interest to the membership via newsletters, memos, etc. We also publish an up-to-date roster of every known Brownson sailor. We are considered to be the largest “tin-can” association in the country.
So far we have had eleven really great, fun-filled reunions. The first was held in Minneapolis, MN; the second in Newport, RI; the third in Virginia Beach, VA; the forth in Las Vegas, NV; the fifth in Annapolis, MD; the sixth in Orlando, FL the seventh in New England, the eighth in Las Vegas, the ninth in Portland, Maine, the tenth in Reno, the eleventh in Plymouth Meeting, PA, and our 13th in Duluth, MN, our 14th in Charleston, SC in May 2015 and our 15th in Portland ME. See the Reunion Page for details and a registration form.
Dues in the USS Brownson Association is only $10.00 per year. This enables us to purchase printing supplies, postage, telephone service, and permits us to make sizable contributions to Navy charities and foundations.
No one in the Association is compensated in any way. We are all volunteers. Knowing that we have helped a shipmate is compensation enough. If you would like to join you can print out an application form and send it to us. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the form. If you don’t have Acrobat Reader, you can download it here. If you can’t print the form for any reason contact us at webmaster@ussbrownson.com. Send us your snail-mail address and we’ll send you an application form.
