2022 Reunion

Greetings! At last, we have some good news to share! We have confirmed dates and the lodging location for our upcoming reunion in Savannah, Georgia, February 28 - March 3, 2022. We are especially excited that many travel restrictions have been lifted and moving forward, we only anticipate more. With the vaccine distribution progress and lower numbers, we feel more confident we can safely meet. Although we have a few loose ends that require a bit more planning, the critical components are in place.

Savannah is an interesting vacation destination. It does not have an "off-season". We found securing affordable priced lodging difficult if not nearly impossible. We have negotiated great "off-season" rates for a hotel on Tybee Island. The island is a fabulous destination, and we invite you to check it out on their website:

Due to Covid, at this time, there is limited public transportation between the island and Savannah. However, that is expected to change as more restrictions are lifted. Also, we are planning a Trolley Tour of Historic Savannah and possibly a riverboat excursion with luncheon. In addition, there will be a "Free" day allowing those interested in either exploring the island itself or heading to the mainland for your own adventure. The hotel offers complimentary bicycles.

First things first. At your earliest convenience, we encourage you to make your reservation at the beautiful Hotel Tybee.

Every municipality has their own laws and ordinances governing alcohol and Tybee Island is no exception. We must purchase the alcohol from the hotel and a bartender will be assigned to our event from 5 PM to 10 PM each evening with some flexibility if we communicate in advance. Dry snacks will be available. The Association officers are discussing a daily set alcohol spending limit that will be announced at the reunion. Once that amount has been exceeded, individuals will be able to purchase on their own.

The Association will host an Opening Night "Welcome Mixer" on Monday, February 28th starting at 7:00PM. Weather Permitting, it will be near the pool at the Tiki Bar. Light appetizers* will be available along with a well-stocked bar. (*not intended to be a meal)

The Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 3rd in the hotel's gorgeous Grandview Ball Room. There will be a cocktail hour, followed by dinner and of course, a guest speaker. Details are still in the works but as always, you can expect a wonderful evening filled with good food, delightful conversation and a great speaker.

Again, the Brownson Association will be providing Commemorative Reunion T-Shirts. Please indicate your size on the registration form. They run true to size, but you may want to consider the next size larger than your usual.

TUESDAY, MARCH 1st 10:00AM - 4:00PM

Historic Savannah Experience & Riverboat Cruise

We are tentatively planning a single excursion to visit Historic Savannah that will include a Riverboat Cruise Luncheon. The experience begins with a trolley ride through historic Savannah, home to stately Southern architecture and distinctive Park-like squares. We will then board the Savannah Riverboat. Relive a bygone era on board the Savannah River queen, a replica paddle wheeler of the boats that once operated upon the rivers of America. Architectural history, a close-up view of Savannah's shipping port and a cruise by coastal marshland will help put the finishing touch on this delightful cruise. We will be seated in a reserved section together on one deck and enjoy a Southern Lunch Buffet. After the cruise, we will see some of the lowland around Savannah before heading back to Tybee Island. This tour is two tours in one plus lunch.

Prices are based on a minimum of 30 people per Trolley. We hope to fill at least two. We must confirm attendance numbers by December 1, 2021.

The Banquet Silent Auction has become another reunion institution and we are please d to announce the popular tradition will continue. Guy and Joni Linscot have again agreed to host and organize the event. If you have something to donate or you would like to lend a hand, contact Guy at 207.233.6531. He and Joni would love to hear from you.

It takes many hands to make the reunion successful. If you are willing to help with any of these tasks, please contact any office or Sharon Holcomb. The following is a list of volunteer opportunities:
