I am looking for any information about Fernando J Alteri. He was my father and reenlisted in 1951 and was on the Brownson i think from that point until he got out of the service. He was in the boiler room (?) the details are hard to come by. Thanks for any help.
Served on board from about June 1956 as striker to June 1958 then as sonarman 2nd class ,We went thru the Canal Oct 56 before the war that closed it. Looking for Jim Fulton he served until spring of 1958, believe he was from New York
My father, Cdr. Richard D. Longman, was XO on the Brownson from 1966 through 1968 (?). He passed away 4-12-12 and his memorial service is scheduled 5-3-12. Anyone who would like details or who would like to share a memory about my father, feel free to contact me at ricklongman@cox.net.
Hi Dave M, Mike Saling here we served together. I left the Bronson in late 1976. I remember you well. We did the Middle East Cruise together. We were the first US war ship to go thru the Suez Canal after the all the unrest with Israel and all the other countries. I became a Golden Shellback on that cruise. I remember being the coxswain on the whale boat in Mombasa and anywhere else we used the boat. We were all over the Persian Gulf including Iran. I heard from Ted Masson a while back he lives about 50 miles away so we talk every once in awhile. Take Care and God Bless! Mike Saling BM3
